Deep in the heart of Georgia
mile 4712
I would have to say that Georgia rivals Texas and even Death Valley in the oppressive heat department and has more state troopers than all the other states put together. After a pleasant but swealtering stay with my aunt, uncle and cousin/honorary sister in Atlanta, I am now stopped on Tybee Island, just outside of Savannah, where my old friend Eric lives. Swimming in a warm ocean for the first time in a year and a half was terrific, and touring the old, laid-back Savannah downtown was almost as good (except for the blister I wore on my toe because Eric made me walk, like, hundreds of feet).
