An overdue visit

mile 413

After living almost six years in Northern California I can finally say that I've been to Yosemite, which as virtually everyone else in NorCal already knows, is deserving of its reputation. The only area that I've seen previously that I could compare it to is the Swiss Alps, but those mountains are mostly rounded green hills, not sheer blocks of granite. It was an enjoyable day except for an over-zealous park ranger who almost gave me a ticket because I was driving five miles an hour through a parking lot without my helmet (we were moving from one restaurant area to another and I was being lazy).

Photos below, and you can click here to view a panorama video I took (14 MB AVI file). The last (blurry) photo is of an unusual looking plateau that appeared on the way to Fresno area, where we stayed before heading toward Death Valley.
